Seaton is based around the pebbled beach, and enjoys fantastic views of the Jurassic Coast, and also benefits from a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants to suit all palates. A must visit when in this area is the tram that still operates seasonally throughout the year, and slowly meanders up the river taking in some of the hidden gems of this countryside. If you fancy travelling slightly further afield, the Jurassic Coast is just a short drive, with Lyme Regis only 6 miles from your doorstep, and as the name suggests, artefacts are regularly being unearthed from the Jurassic period. About: SITUATED IN THE GROUNDS OF THE IMPRESSIVE ROUSDON ESTATEWest Lodge is set on the Rousdon Estate and is one of many properties within the grounds and offers many original features and a unique holiday experience. Nestled on the Jurassic Coast (England's first natural World Heritage Site), this unique stretch of coastline has joined the ranks of the Great Barrier Reef and the Grand Canyon as one of the wonders of the natural world, and is famous for fossils and day to day there are many new discoveries which are constantly being uncovered, including exceptionally well preserved dinosaurs and dinosaur footprints. Lyme Regis is only a short drive away and offers an unspoilt seafront with sheltered south-facing beaches and provides a perfect environment in which children can play and adults can relax in the traditional deckchairs that still line the promenade in summer. Many boat excursions run from the ancient harbour for pleasure and fishing trips. The Rousdon Estate boasts 350 acres of land, and direct access to the Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliffs National Nature Reserve, where wild deer, foxes, rabbits and squirrels can often be seen. About: WEST RIDGE stands in more than 1.5 acres of its own lawns and gardens just a mile or so from the sea at Seaton, set in the midst of the spectacular rural and coastal scenery of East Devon. From its elevated situation it commands beautiful and extensive views of the Axe Valley and Estuary and the sea itself. The ACCOMMODATION comprises a main bedroom (with a king-size double-bed, which can, if preferred, be separated into two single beds); a lounge which can also sleep 2 in single-beds, without impinging upon the sitting and TV area; a large kitchen/living-room with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer (plus a gas-fired Aga cooker which is used in the early Spring and late Autumn). A washing-machine is available on request. There is also a Bathroom, with shower over the bath, and a separate toilet. There is a large GARDEN with a paddock/orchard to the rear. This part of the garden looks to the North over lovely rolling Devon countryside - a particularly attractive and peaceful area. There is an ample supply of garden furniture and plenty of space for car parking. There is LEVEL ACCESS from the driveway to the entrance of the bungalow. THE SITUATION -- The East Devon and West Dorset coastline is now officially listed as a natural World Heritage Site - the only one in England. The area has been given this unique designation because of its outstanding landscape and geological features. Close at hand are Axmouth, Beer and Branscombe; Lyme Regis is 12 minutes and Sidmouth 15 minutes by car. The area is an excellent centre for walking, sailing, fishing and golf. It is also ideal for making day trips Eastwards into the Thomas Hardy country of West Dorset, and Westwards towards the Cathedral City of Exeter, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Torbay and the Dart Valley. West Ridge is 40/45 minutes drive from the M5 junctions at Taunton and Exeter. PLEASE NOTE- There is full gas-fired central heating and double-glazing throughout.
